Elevating Hinge Health’s Brand Through Dynamic Icon Animations
In 2023, Hinge Health unveiled a transformative rebrand that redefined its visual identity, introducing a refreshed logo, vibrant color palette, and a modern icon library. This bold evolution of the brand demanded more than static visuals—it called for dynamic, animated assets to bring Hinge Health’s story to life across digital platforms. To empower the creative team, I contributed to a project to build a comprehensive library of animated GIFs, ensuring every team member could access versatile, brand-aligned motion assets for any project. Under the mentorship of Hinge Health’s Lead Motion Designer, I played a pivotal role in crafting animations that elevated the brand’s presence and enriched its storytelling.
The Process
Collaborating closely with the Lead Motion Designer, I immersed myself in a biweekly mentorship that deepened my understanding of motion design principles. This guidance was instrumental in shaping my approach, from conceptualization to execution. Using Adobe After Effects, I dedicated an average of one hour daily over several months to meticulously craft animations that transformed static icons into dynamic, purposeful assets. Each animation was designed to balance creativity and consistency, ensuring alignment with Hinge Health’s rebrand vision.

Beyond the Healthcare section, I collaborated with two fellow designers on a promotional video for the Movement Conference in May 2024. My contribution included creating the Healthcare animation (featured near the bottom left of the video) and making precise adjustments to color and timing to ensure harmony within the collective piece. This collaborative effort showcased the power of our animated icon library in amplifying Hinge Health’s brand at a high-profile industry event.
The Impact
The animated icon library became an official component of Hinge Health’s creative toolkit, empowering the team to enhance projects with motion-driven storytelling. The animations I developed were widely adopted across digital touchpoints, adding polish and engagement to user experiences. The Movement Conference video, featuring my animation, received positive feedback for its creative presentation, reinforcing Hinge Health’s reputation as an innovative leader in digital health.
This project demanded rigorous attention to detail, mastery of After Effects, and a deep appreciation for motion design’s unique principles. Through the mentorship of the Lead Motion Designer and collaboration with peers, I honed my skills and delivered assets that elevated Hinge Health’s brand identity.
